THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY MOVEMENT FOR RELIGIOUS RENEWAL IN LITHUANIA

Lithuania is a EU country at the Baltic sea with 2,8 million inhabitants (84% lithuanian, 6.6%  polish, 5.8% of russian). It borders with Latvia, Belarus, Poland and Kaliningrad (Russia). Lithuanian  language, as well as Latvian, belongs to Baltic group of languages. According to its archaic structure, the Lithuanian language is one of today’s living languages that is closest to the ancient Indo-European language and Sanskrit. In 1990, Lithuania was the first country to withdraw from the Soviet Union and it has restored its independence.

After re-establishment of Independence in Lithuania in 1990,  various anthroposophical initiatives started to live and develop there: 5 Waldorf schools, many Waldorf kindergartens, education for Waldorf teachers, Eurythmy education, 9 biodynamic farms, etc. In year 2001 the Christian Community Movement for Religious Renewal started to develop in Lithuania.

Going forward. The first sacraments took place in 2001. In 2010 Christian community was legally registered  as a religious community in Lithuania. In 2014-2018 the texts of sacraments were translated into Lithuanian language. In 2017, the first lithuanian person Rasa Kabailaitė was ordained as a priest. Since September 2019 Rasa Kabailaitė is working as a priest on a permanent basis in Vilnius.

Now we are in the new stage of development and facing various challenges.
